Know Me
I’m a writer, strategist, and cultural leader with more than two decades of experience helping mission-driven organizations bring their stories to life, secure transformative funding, and build equity-centered systems. Through my work at Medium Communications, I lead strategic initiatives that bridge legacy, justice, and innovation.
One of the projects I'm most proud of is The GRACE Initiative—a multi-year grantmaking and learning program I designed and launched to support heirs’ property preservation, cultural reclamation, and economic empowerment in the Gullah Geechee Corridor.
As the former Chief Speechwriter to Boston Mayor Kim Janey, I helped shape citywide messages on racial equity, economic justice, and healing. My writing—whether in speeches, grant proposals, or op-eds—has supported organizations including the Beaufort County Black Chamber of Commerce, MassVOTE, G{Code}, Madison Park Development Corporation, Massachusetts Communities Action Network (MCAN), Whittier Street Health Center, and the Haitian Service Alliance.
I hold an MFA in Creative Writing and a BFA in English from Emerson College. As a Fulbright Research Scholar, I studied the cultural and linguistic ties between the Gullah people of South Carolina and the Krio people of Sierra Leone. My work is rooted in a deep commitment to heritage, storytelling, and building bridges that sustain communities across generations.
